"SNIPPETS" FROM THE NEWSLETTER:

Play for the fun of it. . .
Parents can take an active role in facilitating play by:
  -  Allowing plenty of time and space for play.
  -  Planning for toys that invite open-ended play.
  -  Finding time to play with children and help facilitate play with other children.
  -  Encouraging cooperation and problem solving.

Car Safety
Remember these tips from the National Safe Kids Campaign:
  -  Never leave your child alone in the car.
  -  Always lock your car when not using it.
  -  Keep the keys out of children’s reach.
  -  Keep the trunk locked.
  -  Make sure your car is fitted with a trunk release mechanism.
  -  If your child accidentally locks himself in and you can’t get him out, call the police immediately.

Sleep Guidelines
Toddlers and preschoolers sleep an average of 12 hours a day and take one nap. Naps may be stopped by the end of the third year. Sleep problems are common, but bedtime rituals (regular bedtimes, baths, snacks, quiet activity, bedtime reading, etc.) are helpful.
