Scholastic Book Fair at school

WELCOME, NEW FAMILIES TO ACLC!

PARENT NIGHTS COME TO THE BOOK FAIR
Please plan to attend our Parent night program in your child’s classroom.  We will give you lots of info that will be pertinent to the rest of the year.  Don’t miss this one! Concurrent with the Parent Nights, we will feature Scholastic books for purchase.  Every child loves to have his own books, and this is an inexpensive way to put quality books in his hands.

Besides, ACLC gets books from Scholastic, too, when you order. See the signup on the classroom door for more info.

Foresight Project
Vision and hearing screening will be done at ACLC on Oct. 9th and 10th at no charge to parents.
"SNIPPETS" FROM THE SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER:
SAYING GOOD-BYE
Are there any secrets to a smoother separation? Think how it must feel to face a new class, start a new job, or join a new group… It can be quite uncomfortable—or downright terrifying!  As a parent, you can help create healthy attitudes about separations.
PREPARE YOUR CHILD
Children adjust differently to new situations, but all children appreciate knowing what to expect.  You can talk about what their new day will be like. Walk them through it…But also be realistic and honest.  The first days maybe exhausting, prompting an adjustment in the bedtime (perhaps for you, too!)
BRIDGE THE GAP
Kindness is contagious, and your attitude will spill over and affect your children. Allow more time than you think…a hug gives a good beginning to the day. Can your child bring a transition item with him from home that will be a connection and the familiar that’s important…
GOOD-BYE RITUAL
When it’s time to leave, it is important to make the  the break and do it quickly. No matter how tempting it may be to sneak away,  never slip out of the room without saying good-bye… a ritual—a hug, high five, or a discussion on what you do when you reunite…
WORLD OF WORDS
This is a great logical thinking exercise:
Get in the habit of asking questions that have more than one right answer and that encourage more than a simple “yes” or “no”…
     ·  If you were a bird, where would you fly?
     ·  What do you think bears dream about when
        they  hibernate?...
WORD PAIRS
Help children acquire language faster…
