Philosophy of the Center
Mission, Vision and Care Values
The programs at the Center will focus on the developmental needs of a child as a total person - his/her social growth, emotional growth, physical growth, and cognitive growth. We will offer programs to enhance these growths by providing a variety of stimulating activities designed to meet the needs of the children. We will organize activities that will introduce children to experiences with art, science, music, stories, cooking and movement.
Our programs will encourage children to trust themselves and adults. More choices will be offered to the children where appropriate in order to prepare them to be independent. We will aim to create a supportive and caring atmosphere where a typical child could interact with a child of different ability, can learn more about each other, accept their similarities and differences, respect each other and develop responsibilities for their behaviors. The Center will invite parents to become involved in all aspects of their child's developments. The parents will be able to learn more about the various phases of their child's growth and development through such interaction. Additional services for the family will include assistance in securing necessary health services, referral to the agencies, and aid to families in making maximum use of community resources. Food and nutrition services will form an important element of the Center's program. We believe eating is an experience out of which a child's images of the world and his/her importance in it grows. Food that is eaten pleasantly together remains a great socializing tool all through life. Menu planning will take into consideration a sensitivity to ethnic food patterns of the children thus creating the necessary bond of school and home. Meal time will provide opportunities for learning to build upon language development. It will lead to discussion in the areas of different food, it will encourage the broadening of a child's tastes, it will aid in making children more perceptually aware of shapes, colors, flavors and odors of food served, while setting standards for acceptable behavior at the table. Parents involvement, suggestions, and discussion of issues of concerns, and constructive criticism is always welcome. The Center is
