ADOPT-A-FAMILY |
TUITION PAYMENTS |
|
Thank you for all your generosity last month. The four families
that we adopted were given so many wonderful gifts. We are so
thankful that we have such caring families here at ACLC. That
was a wonderful lesson to teach your children about giving to
those families who are less fortunate that us. Thank you once
again! |
Please remember that tuition is due by the 5th of each month. If
you know you will be gone during the first week of the month
please either mail the check or if you would like to give us a
post dated check we will make sure not to deposit it until the
tuition date. Any checks received after the 5th of the month
will be charged a late fee of $25. Thank you for your
cooperation in this matter. |
|
Thank you to all our parents, aunts,
uncles, siblings, and grandparents who came to share their
special holiday celebrations with our classes. The children had
so much fun learning about Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa
and all of our other celebrations. Many families brought in
special activities, books, songs and items to share with our
classes. Thank you for adding to our curriculum and for making
this season fun and festive! |

A
PLACE FOR TOYS
Children appreciate a sense of
order. Help them to organize their toys by categorizing the toys
and finding the best location for those categories of items. Big
items can have a special place on the bed, in a chair or on a
windowsill. Little items fit well into small see-through
shoeboxes. Books, blocks and puzzles can be seen easily on the
shelf, on a rack or in special sized boxes. Help your child to
succeed in cleaning by teaching your child to put one item away
before playing with another. Teach your child to appreciate
their property, to treat everything with care and to keep items
in good shape.
RECALLS
The
United States Product Safety Commission has a list of toy
recalls dating back to 1975. Check out the following website

GIFT OF A MIGHTY MESSAGE
Children respond better
to positive messages. Here are some ideas to help create some
mighty messages in your family. Mealtime Motivators: Make
pancakes in the shape of your child’s initials, put a smiley
face on the cereal with banana slices, cut a sandwich into
different shapes, or make a heart-shaped pizza for dinner. Fun
food makes for fun meal times. Written or Spoken Messages:
Create a family bulletin board and write loving messages such as
“I love you” or “I’m proud of you,” or when you turn out the
lights and say goodnight add other thoughts such as, “You did a
good job today” or “You are a very sweet child.” Body Clues:
Children need and respond to nurturing touches. Give hugs and
kisses, let your child sit on your lap, read to them, and hold
their hands. Don’t forget to smile!
FESTIVE
FRUITY POPCORN BALLS
¾ cup Packed brown sugar
¼ cup apple juice or water
3 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
¼ tsp. salt
9-10 cups popped popcorn (uncooked kernels removed)
2 cups raisins or dried apricots, diced
Combine the brown sugar, apple juice, butter, corn syrup, and
salt in a 2- to 3-quart saucepan. Boil over medium heat for 5 to
6 minutes, until the mixture is slightly thickened (250 degrees
on a candy thermometer). Place the popcorn and raisins or
apricots in a buttered bowl, and drizzle the hot sugar mixture
over them, stirring quickly with a wooden spoon. Kids will love
the next part: have them butter their hands and let them quickly
shape the mixture into balls. Wrap the popcorn balls in
cellophane. Makes 12 popcorn balls. |
