Currently enrolled families will have priority for siblings
entering our program in Summer and Fall. We will be having
registration forms available and will collect fees to ensure
your child’s space for both Summer and/or Fall. The date to
remember is Feb. 1st-9th for registration!
THANK YOU
Your
generosity for the Adopt-A-Family gifts, the food bank
donations, and for teacher/staff gifts, the greetings, cards,
and well-wishes---all so overwhelming! THANKS so very much for
everything! |
Please sign and return your letter that
outlined the new NAEYC criteria. We are anxious to get it into
place, but we need parent help! Handwashing is critical, and
don’t forget to bring in a toothbrush.
WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR CHILD’S ART
Create a folder or box to put things in. Let your child
see your excitement and/or interest in his creation or
effort. Display special pieces in inexpensive frames or on the
refrigerator. Have an art wall and let the child tape up his
favorites. |
HOW TO FIND TIME FOR LEISURE
Watch out for sinkholes.
Managing your leisure time is crucial. One tv show easily leads
to another and sometimes another. Ask yourself—do I really want
to watch this? What other options do I have? Am I really too
tired to do anything else? The reality is that tv often does
not make us feel more rested; instead, it drains energy and
makes us feel slightly guilty for not spending the time in more
fulfilling ways.
How do you invest your time?
Take stock once in a while by asking questions like, “Is this
the way I want to spend Saturday morning?” Will I do this
(carpool kids to soccer practice) and then feel resentful
later.?
Create change by setting priorities.
Write down what you do with your time. Then write a plan that’s
possible (fighting off perfectionism) and be sure to include
some personal time for your interests. We’ve heard it said many
times, but it’s true: we must take care of ourselves to be the
best we can be for others. Don’t forget that kids need down
time too.
Tips for saving time:
Use a shopping bag for gifts. If baking isn’t one of your
favorite things to do, buy baked goods instead of making them
from scratch. Use comforters on the beds so kids can easily make
their beds. Have a place for everything. Schedule doctor and
dentist appointments in the morning, so you are the first
patient…
Do a reality check.
It’s impossible to do it all, so one way to stay on track is to
learn to say no… |
THE PAPER TRAIL
In
busy families (and who isn’t these days?), it’s easy to lose
track of field trip schedules, school lunches, teacher
conferences, and special programs you don’t want to miss. This
simple filing system takes only minutes to set up and keeps
everything in one place at your fingertips. Purchase a pocket
folder for each child, and let him decorate it with drawings and
stickers. Keep the folders in a desk or kitchen drawer…
LINKING LITERACY TO PRETEND PLAY
You
see it every day, children playing house, school, and office.
They pretend to read books to their teddy bears, write menus for
their restaurant, and playschool using chalk and a chalkboard.
Literacy development starts at a very early age. With the right
kind of materials, modeling, and support, you can help your
child…
