WINTER |
HOLIDAY GIFTS |
|
These winter months are busy times for us. We are rededicating
ourselves to the curriculum progress, to evaluation of children,
and to conferencing with parents. The children are growing so
quickly; each day is valuable for learning. |
Thanks again for being so generous with the Adopt-a-Family
program. The gifts and wishes you gave the ACLC staff were
wonderful, too!!! Thank you! We love our families! |
|
FEB. REGISTRATION FOR 2006 |
CAN YOU DONATE? |
|
Next
month will be the chance to re-enroll for the Sept. program.
This is very important to ensure a space for your child in the
program. Make sure of the times and dates you choose. Open
registration to non-ACLC families will begin on Feb. Class
selection is not necessary, i.e. HoneyBears vs. Grizzlies—just
verify your days and times and pay fees. |
Do
you have old buttons, Halloween costumes, scrap paper, discarded
toys, Ethnic items, postcards, scarves, baby dolls, or computer
soft ware? Guess who wants it?!?! WE DO! Bring into the office
or talk with Cheryl…

HOW TO RECOGNIZE A CHILD’S SENSE OF HUMOR
Humor plays an important role in the development of
children. Having a sense of humor boosts self-confidence, and
it’s also a self-soothing behavior that reduces anxiety—even in
very young children. What tickles a child’s funny bone is
largely determined by age. The beginnings of a sense of humor
are evident as early as the third or fourth month of life.
Preschoolers laugh at practically anything that is unexpected.
They may find it hilarious to greet dad with a “hi mom” and call
their best friend a “banana brain”. It’s important to remember
that a fine line separates what is funny and what is
frightening. The parent’s role is to help children establish
fun and positive ways to express themselves… |
FUN WITH LIGHT!
Children are intrigued with flashlights, and an evening walk
with parents can be greatly enhanced by just adding a
flashlight. Take a walk in the early evening, and let your
child guide the way. Flash the lights under bushes—anything
moving under there? Ask your child to point the light toward the
sky. What happens?... |
|
LIGHTEN UP
You know you are a superparent if you:
-Can play Candyland, fix dinner, and warm the baby’s bottle all
at the same time.
Don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back for all that you
do! |

TIPS
TO HELP CLEAN UP THE CLUTTER
Have
a place for everything…
*Start early. Even toddlers can be taught to put away their
p.j.’s
*Break the task into small parts…
*Have a “keep” or “toss” box handy.
*Don’t waste time with nagging and making empty threats.
*End nicely. A little reward or time… |
