"SNIPPETS" FROM THE NEWSLETTER:
Bottom Line Tips for Healthier Eating
*Provide scheduled meals and snack times
*Take a look at your own eating habits
*Try, try again
*Phase out the bad and phase in the good
*Don’t use food to comfort or bribe
*Involve your child in food preparation
*Offer nutritious choices
*Don’t force your child to clean his plate
**Watch out for juice – The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children ages one to six drink no more than 4-6 ounces of fruit juice a day.

Hooray for Charades
Tired of board games? Get your kids moving by explaining the game of charades and acting with no words allowed. Adjust the rules to the children’s abilities and help the children with ideas and examples. How about Humpty Dumpty or playing basketball or Jack and Jill?

Create a Caring Corner
Encourage compassionate, nurturing behavior by setting up a caring corner in your home. Create an animal clinic for your child to take care of stuffed animals, encourage your child to “read” stories to their animals, pretend to feed or wash them, or they can be the animal protectors and come up with ideas on how to save the animals that are endangered.

Cooking: Coleslaw with Raisins
Coleslaw tastes great with sandwiches, burgers, and many other entrees.
½ cup raisins
1/3 cup ranch salad dressing
1/3 cup sour cream
1 bag (16 oz) tricolored coleslaw mix
Mix together the raisins, salad dressing, and sour cream in a large bowl. Add the coleslaw mix and toss to combine. Enjoy!!!
