Thank you for donating to this great cause in our community. The
staff was challenged to “lead” the way…We were able to fill both
bins! THANKS! |
We
have adopted 4 families this season. Please see the sign up
charts on your classroom door to contribute to giving gifts to
those in need in our community. |
GIVING AND RECEIVING
How can we as parents protect our children from overdosing on
the “gimmies”? It may not be easy, and there is no quick fix,
but it is possible to curb the materialistic appetite of even
the most ardent consumer. Here’s how…
Understand
the Basics
We learn from research that children want more when they are
exposed to more. Try limiting TV… Set limits and let children
know what rules are in place concerning buying toys…
Make
Time for Family
Children want time with you. It’s difficult for them to
verbalize this. Children don’t talk about their feelings like
that, but research shows that kids do want to spend time with
their parents and other adults. Another thing you can do is
talk about volunteering as a way of giving back to people and
the community. Balance giving and receiving…
FLYING HIGH WITH
BABY
For this game, hold your baby securely under her arms and gently
raise her in the air as you say, “Fly up, up, up.” Then slowly
lower her as you say, “Fly down, down, down.” Your little one
will want to play this over and over. |
APPLE CRUMBLE WITH
OATS
6
medium apples
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
¾ cup rolled oats
3 T. toasted wheat germ
3 T. light brown sugar
3 t. ground cinnamon
1 T. canola oil
1 T. unsalted butter, in pieces
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a baking dish with cooking
spray. Cut the apples into thin slices. Place the apples in a
small bowl with the applesauce and toss to coat. Spread evenly
in the dish. Mix the oats, wheat germ, brown sugar, and
cinnamon in a small bowl. Add the oil and butter. Sprinkle mix
over the apples. Bake for 30-35 min. Makes 6 servings.
MEALTIME SAFETY
TIPS
Mash
or puree food for babies. Cut food into bites for toddlers.
Make it a rule that children must sit down when they are eating.
Teach children to chew their food carefully before swallowing.
Remind children to talk when their mouth is empty. |
